Alex and I always argue about the lamest stuff. One of them being that for me a week starts on Monday, while for him a new week starts on Sunday. As hard as I try, I cannot think of Sunday as the first day of the month. To me the week starts on Monday; you work hard Monday to Friday, Saturday is family/clean day, Sunday is rest and church day. Please tell me I’m not alone.
With that, I want to let you in on this new series I’m starting. Every other Monday I will come on here and tell you what God has spoken to me. I want to share with you all about the things that made me go “OH, WOWW! That’s so awesome”. As of now, there isn’t a set passage that we would be talking about, but definitely something I feel led to tell you, because I hope that you will have the same “WOW, THAT’S AMAZING!” reaction that I had. Let’s begin!
One of my favorite verses is Psalm 37:4. It’s been a verse that reminded me of all that God has done for me for a long time. So when I wanted to study the Bible deeper I chose that passage and the verse around it, which means that I studied Psalm 37:3-5,
“Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.”
Today I want to show you what God showed me when reading verse 5, “commit your way”.
I’m extremely fascinated with finding the definition of words and phrases in the Bible, like what they mean in their original language. When I looked at verse 5, I literally thought, nothing special about that verse, “commit your way, pretty much means, give it up to God.” But I still went ahead and pulled it into the Blue Letter Bible app. When you look at the definition of “commit”, all it basically gives you is “roll”. I thought, “wait, seriously God? What does rolling have to do with me committing my life?”
Man was I in for a HUGE LIGHTBULB MOMENT. I went deeper into its meaning and you know what it said? Next to Psalm 37:5 it said, “roll your concerns to God.” And in that moment I felt God say, “Rolling is easier.”
ROLLING IS EASIER. Of course! Our anxiety, our stress, our dreams, our hopes, our prayers, our fears are such a heavy load that sometimes its too hard for us to give it up to God, we’re too weak. But you know what God says to that? “Just roll it. Let it roll off your shoulders, off your back, and just give it a push and roll it to me.”
Are you sitting there, eyes wide open amazed at how intricate God is? Because I am. I experienced this moment Weeks ago and as I’m writing this out, I’m still getting goosebumps thinking about how detailed He is. He knows you personally and He cares for you, specifically.
Ahhh He’s so good. Let me pray with you.
My Father, you are so good God, and so faithful. You know the weight of our anxiety, stress, worry and sin better than we know it. Thank you for making it easy for us to give it to you, I pray that whoever reads this is reminded of your love for them and how important they are to you. I pray they are able to finally roll off what is weighting them down. Thank you for Jesus and his sacrifice. I love you so much. I ask you this in Jesus’ name, amen.
